Spike Lee’s next project is guaranteed to get a rise out of people. Following his previous two projects — the drama “Da 5 Bloods” for Netflix and the performance documentary “David Byrne’s American Utopia” for HBO — Lee will next tackle a screen musical inspired by the launch of Viagara.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Lee has teamed up with British playwright and actor Kwame Kwei-Armah to co-write he screenplay, which will be based on David Kusher’s Esquire article “All Rise: The Untold Story of The Guys Who Launched Viagra”.
Stew Stewart and Heidi Rodewald, the songwriting duo responsible for the Tony-winning musical “Passing Strange”, have signed on to compose the songs and music.
