'Sleep well... we will all miss you': Heartbreaking tributes pour in as 14-year-old boy found in River Irwell is named

Heartbreaking tributes have poured for a teenage boy whose body was found in the River Irwell yesterday. The 14-year-old, who has been named as Adam Kay, was last seen in the water near Clifton Country Park on Tuesday, June 2.

The park was evacuated and a huge search operation got underway at around 3.30pm. Witnesses described seeing at least 40 response vehicles and a helicopter at the scene.

His body was found by underwater search teams a short while later. The tragic incident has since sparked an outpouring of grief for the teenager, who was a pupil at Harper Green School in Bolton.

Kellie Thygesen said: “I really wish this wasn’t true. Sleep well your dad will keep you safe now. We will all miss you. Love you my baby nephew.” Jes
