Rank-and-file officers in GMP have voted in a new 'union' leader who has vowed to 'fight for cops who do an incredibly difficult job'.

Lee Broadbent won an election to become chairman of the Greater Manchester branch of the Police Federation, the police 'union'.

It is the first time a sitting chairman who stood for re-election, Stu Berry, has been voted out since the branch was conceived alongside GMP in 1973.
