A Scots trucker is begging the government to take action to help those who are working longer than ever to deliver vital food and medicines.Ruth Copeland, 56, from Ardrossan, Ayrshire has been an HGV driver for 32 years but the coronavirus outbreak has left ‘trampers’ like her without basic facilities as they travel all over the UK delivering supplies.Most of the already meagre washing and eating facilities they can use at motorway services are closed and even getting to an open toilet is often impossible.

Some truckers have been forced to do the toilet in carrier bags in the cabs where they sleep.Currently, during the crisis, some truckers are away from home for two weeks at a time, having to rough it to make sure the public don’t.Ruth
