Fife after Billy Haddow, 11, came across the unexploded First World War hand grenade on the river banks of the River Carron.
Billy was with his friend Alex Kesely when they discovered what they thought were the preserved remains of an ancient animal or sea creature.
Not realising what he had actually found, the youngster took it to his pal’s house for an overnight stay on August 14 and was shocked when he was told what he'd actually brought home.
The bomb squad and police were called out the following day. The device had to be detonated in a controlled explosion in a field near Billy’s home at Hill of Beath.
