Scotland could see snow as early as this weekend with Arctic air set to blast the country. The Met Office warns that unsettled weather could arrive on Sunday as a freezing cold jet stream heads over northern Scotland.
While the forecast still remains uncertain due to changing weather patterns, a blitz of cold air could bring snow this weekend with more due at the beginning of February, according to WXCharts.
It comes after the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for gale force winds reaching 75mph in Caithness and Orkney from 10pm last night.
Forecasters anticipate west and southwesterly winds to stick around, with Scotland to be wet and windy for the remainder of the week.Large parts of Scotland will be bracing for this forecasted arctic blast, with some snow expected to fall as early as this weekend.From January 29, WXCharts weather maps show larges swathes of the Highlands to be hit by some snow - but it will be less than an inch in total.Even more snow is due on Sunday, January 30, with up to three inches forecast to hit places including the Highlands, Inverness, Aberdeen and Dundee.According to WXCharts weather map charts, snow could even fall in Glasgow but only for a short while before it clears on Monday.However, it's important to note that forecasters are struggling to predict the weather this weekend due to an ever-changing jet stream making its way over the Atlantic.From February, long-range forecasts predict snowfall in the UK with Scotland to face the worst of it as the Met Office also warns of wintry showers.It is too early to say how much white stuff may fall, but WXCharts weather maps show temperatures below freezing from next week.Speaking about the February's forecast, James Madden, a forecaster
