Russia claims forces 'fired warning shots at a Royal Navy destroyer'

A Russian border patrol boat reportedly fired the shots at HMS Defender, the defence ministry said in a statement reported by the Russian Interfax news agency.

The reports also claimed a Su-24M warplane dropped four bombs in the path of the warship. READ MORE: The Ministry of Defence has denied the claims in a statement posted on Twitter saying the ship was "conducting innocent passage through Ukrainian territorial waters".
