Former Pointless host and bestselling crime novelist Richard Osman has revealed an eye condition stopped him pursuing his dream career in the police.
Richard, 51, left the show after filming almost 30 series across 13 years and is now concentrating all his efforts into his writing career.
The star became a telly favourite for his role with his laptop behind the Pointless desk, giving contestants and viewers the obscure answers to the general knowledge questions.
But as a child, he had an altogether different ambition as a career path. Richard revealed to the Radio Times: “I would love to have been a detective like my grandfather. “Sadly, I have a condition called nystagmus that means I’ve got terrible eyesight, so it was never a possibility.” Get exclusive celebrity stories and fabulous photoshoots straight to your inbox with OK!'s daily newsletter He confirmed he will always love and watch the show which he joined in 2009 and co-hosted with ALexander Amrstrong.
