Residents left bemused after council workers resurface road AROUND their cars

Bury Council have vowed to finish the road resurfacing works after contractors avoided areas with parked cars. The residents in Prestwich were left baffled last week after they came home to see work resurfacing works ‘half-done’ on their street.

The initial layer of gravel was put down successfully and the notices to remove cars from the street had been taken down - meaning Brandram Road dwellers thought it was fine to park their cars there.

They were caught unawares, though, when the workers returned and put a sticky resin [liquid bitumen] on top of the gravel to hold it in place, avoiding the areas where cars were parked.

Residents were left bemused when they returned home. One man, 74-year-old Stewart Lomas, was confident the council’s contractors would return to finish what they started.
