Steven Gerrard

Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.

He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,

Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.

Rangers maintained their perfect pre-season record with a win over Coventry City at Ibrox. Steven Gerrard had seen his side sweep Motherwell aside earlier in the week, and made just one change in the final match before the Scottish Premiership returns.

Allan McGregor came in for Jon McLaughlin, but neither he nor Jack Burroughs had much to do in a stodgy first half.Alfredo Morelos had the best change of the opening 45, but but there was precious little to shout about inside an empty Ibrox.The visitors made nine changes at the break and Rangers soon took advantage.

The impressive Joe Aribo played a clever one-two with Morelos on the edge of the box before poking a low finish beyond the goalkeeper.
