A slew of ScotRail trains will be cancelled on three strike days set for June 21, 23 and 25. ScotRail journeys and across the network across the UK are set to be widely disrupted in the largest rail strike since 1989.

While the action does not directly involve staff at the Scottish Government-owned operator, it will have an effect on the firm's ability to provide services.ScotRail says the industrial action involves Network Rail staff in Scotland who occupy 'safety critical' roles. It explained that the knock-on effect will make it impossible for the operator to run the vast majority of services. The firm warned customers of 'significant' disruption ahead. The strike by RMT members of Network Rail will be on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday next week - June 21, 23 and 25.

Just five ScotRail routes are scheduled to run between 7:30am to 6:30pm. ScotRail warned customers that the last trains will depart 'well before' 6:30pm.It tweeted: "Final services will depart well before 1830, so customers should plan ahead to ensure they know when their last train will run.

Customers on all routes other than those outlined above should be aware they will not be able to travel on a ScotRail service on 21, 23 & 25 June." Read more information about the services that will be available on the ScotRail website here.
