Baked potatoes are the unsung heroes of cold days. When the weather is miserable, nothing beats the warm and hearty meal. No matter what you like to fill them with, whether it's cheese, beans or tuna, the key for getting the best bake is all in the preparation. And apparently one of the most popular ways to do this is "nonsense", according to one potato aficionado on social media.
Former Spud-u-Like employee @imsalellis took to TikTok to explain that cutting a cross at the top of a baked potato doesn't always give you the best results, despite many of us probably doing this every time.
In the video, she explained: "I've decided that it's time to put an end to the nonsense that is people cutting their potato by putting a cross in it.
I used to work in Spud-u-Like in the 90s, so I think this makes me an expert on cutting potatoes, right?" She said there would be "none of that cutting it across and squeezing it cr**, not in this house."Instead, she recommends taking a cooked baked potato, turning it on its side, and cut it fully along lengthwise. She added: "Use a fork too because it'll be hot."Once we've done that, we're going to open it out.
