Plans to move 'world's oldest' bottle of whisky to newly built site at Fife village made famous by Outlander

It's part of plans for a whisky firm to open their new headquarters there. Scotch Whisky Investments (SWI) say they will also be creating an opportunity for restaurants, a museum and hotel accommodation at the site of the former linoleum factory at St John’s Works just south of the picturesque villageAs part of the plans, the world-famous Valentino Zagatti whisky collection, one of the most impressive in the world, will be transported from the Netherlands to a museum within the building in the new site at the Fife town.Comprising more than 3,000 bottles, and close to 300 whisky brands, most of which are extremely rare, the collection was created by passionate whisky collector, Italian Valentino Zagatti.The oldest bottle in the collection, and presumably the oldest unopened bottle of whisky in the world, dates from 1843 and forms the centrepiece of the collection.Keith Rennie, Director for Scotch Whisky Investments, said: "We are delighted to be bringing forward ambitious proposals for Falkland and Glenrothes as part of a significant investment programme for Fife.“Our vision as a company is to showcase and educate people about single malt Scotch whisky, as well as promote investment in the commodity and provide new facilities for Falkland.“Through this activity, complemented by the expansion of our facilities in Glenrothes, considerable employment and tourism opportunities will be delivered not just for Fife, but for Scotland as a whole."We look forward to engaging with the public on these proposals and keeping the community updated as they progress."
