Plans to demolish giant unsightly gas tank near Ayrshire homes

A giant unsightly gas tank looks set to be demolished.Plans are being prepared by SGN to raze the huge eyesore structure that blots the landscape on the former BMK carpet site in Kilmarnock.While the remnants of the factory have gone, the container has remained close to residential homes between Barbadoes Place and Burnside Street for decades.An application for a further 73 homes has also been submitted for the land surrounding the gas holder.

The plans have proved controversial with locals submitting objections.
