Plans are in place to reopen primary schools in England to pupils in June, Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced. School children will go back in stages, beginning with reception, Year 1 and Year 6.
The Prime Minister made the announcement in his address to the nation on Sunday evening. Secondary pupils facing exams next year will also get 'at least some time' with their teachers before the holidays, Mr Johnson said.
The announcement about plans to reopen schools came as he outlined steps to ease coronavirus lockdown measures. Plans to reopen schools is part of the second step to ease strict social distancing measures currently in place.
