Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes believes Jadon Sancho deserved an England call-up more than Manchester City ace Jack Grealish after the former was left out of the squad for the upcoming round of Nations League fixtures.

England manager Gareth Southgate, who guided his side to the final of the European Championship last year, named his squad for the upcoming clashes with Italy and Germany on Thursday afternoon and left United duo Marcus Rashford and Sancho out of his squad.

Both players were expected to be given recalls after being left out in June. However, Southgate has chosen to overlook the United duo, although Rashford's absence appears to be down to the muscle injury that has forced him to miss the Reds' last two matches.

Sancho's omission, however, is questionable, especially after he netted his third goal of the season against Sheriff Tiraspol in the Europa League on Thursday evening.
