United trailed the Premier League champions 4-0 at half-time at the Etihad - the second time this season they were 4-0 down at the interval.
City were so rampant they went 6-1 up with 17 minutes left and their fans chanted "We want 10". Martial struck his first United goals in exactly a year to trim the losing margin to a flattering three goals. "For sure, I would have preferred not to score and win this game but it's always good to come back on the grass and score," Martial said.
