The mum later found a petrol can outside her front door. Simon Fitzgerald, 29, has been jailed for four years and eight months following the incident in Bury.
The girl had been preparing to give evidence at a trial, but Fitzgerald eventually pleaded guilty. The police were alerted when the victim - who was under 16 - revealed what had happened to her.
Fitzgerald, from Birkenhead, was arrested and denied it. He was released and later went to their home, shouting through the window.
