Olivia Colman held back tears as she honoured her late father during her acceptance speech at the 2021 Emmy Awards last night (Sunday, September 19).

The Oscar winner - who won an Emmy for Leading Actress in a drama series for her role as the Queen in The Crown - revealed she had lost her dad during the pandemic last year, and that her speech would be brief as she was overcome with emotion. "Thank you very much. . .

I'd put money on that not happening," Colman joked. "What a lovely end to the most extraordinary journey for this lovely family.
