No-one should be asked to sign a do not resuscitate (DNR) order if they don’t want to according to Nicola Sturgeon. The First Minister made the comments during a briefing at St Andrew’s House on the coronavirus outbreak in response to a story in The Courier newspaper about a 86-year-old patient in Tayside who was sent a form.

It listed a "telephone consultation as per Covid-19 protocol" as the reason.Dr Catherine Calderwood, chief medical officer, said there had been no updated guidance on the use of DNRs, although GPs could be discussing them with patients more often as a result of the outbreak.A patient can refuse CPR if they wish meaning medics will not try to restart their heart if it stops.When asked about The Courier’s story,
