Netflix has bought a Kanye West documentary series covering the last 20 years of his career. News of the documentary was first reported by Billboard with the suggestion that the streaming company paid $30 million for the rights.
However, in a follow-up report, Variety said that figure is innacurate. The documentary series was made by directors Clarence “Coodie” Simmons and Chike Ozah, who first met West when they made his "Through The Wire" video in 2003.
They continued to work with the rapper, collaborating on a video for "Through The Wire" and filming him at intermittent moments over the coming decades.
The series is said to include unseen footage covering the death of West's mother, Donda, plus his failed 2020 presidential bid.
