Neighbours viewers in tears as they watch 'nostalgic' soap finale

It was announced in February that Channel 5 would drop the long-running soap from its line-up and doubts were quickly cast over whether the show's producers Fremantle Media would be able to secure a replacement broadcaster.
Shortly afterwards it was announced that the show would be ending after nearly 9,000 episodes, 63 weddings, 20 births and 68 deaths.The final episode aired on Friday 29 July evening in the UK, and it had viewers reaching for their tissues after 37 years on air.The last episode of the show saw many famous faces return to say goodbye to Ramsay Street, including Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, Margot Robbie, Holly Valance, Natalie Imbruglia, Guy Pearce and Ian Smith.
One person tweeted: "So sad my favourite show is over @neighbours has been with me through school, university and marriage. "A mad mix of unforgettable characters and storylines from the sublime to the ridiculous!
Nothing will replace this wonderful family soap, but we’ll always have the memories. "It was always going to be difficult bringing Neighbours to an end after almost 40 years.
