The National Trust has announced it will make around 1,200 jobs redundant in a bid to save £100m.The charity said it has lost around £200m since the coronavirus pandemic began, and its houses and gardens were forced to close.The proposed redundancies amount to around 13% of the National Trust's 9,500-strong workforce, saving a proposed £60m.The remaining savings will come from reduced office costs, marketing, and print spending.The National Trust has around 5.6 milion members and more than 500 heritage and conservation sites across the UK.The trust said it had saved millions through the furlough scheme, borrowing, and deferring projects, but that it still needs to reduce costs to protect its future.Director general Hilary McGrady said the.
