Statistics released today reveal the devastating number of deaths in care homes involving coronavirus. More than 3,000 people have passed away in care homes in one week from coronavirus, with 4,343 deaths overall - according to the Office for National Statistics.

Anthony Slack was 85-years-old when he died from suspected coronavirus. He had spent several days isolating with symptoms of the disease at a care home in Tameside.

Carers at the care home were advised to isolate Tony and check his temperature daily after he developed a temperature. On Easter weekend, his condition deteriorated and he was rushed to hospital, where he was diagnosed with pneumonia and supplied oxygen.
