More than 1,500 people have now died in Greater Manchester's hospitals after contracting coronavirus

Greater Manchester's coronavirus death toll has now reached 1,500. Twenty more people have died in our region's hospitals after contracting coronavirus, bringing the total number of lives lost to 1,503.

Hundreds more have died at care homes and in their own homes across the region since the outbreak started. Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust recorded five more COVID-19 related deaths.

Stepping Hill Hospital, part of Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, also reported five more deaths; Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust five and Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust two.

Salford Royal recorded one more death. A further 332 deaths have been recorded in England's hospitals since Thursday, bringing the national total
