Momma make music that feels urgent while maintaining a cool, unbothered ethos that harkens back to '90s slacker rock. Their respective masteries of both these poles are indebted to their current city of residence (New York) and their hometown (Los Angeles).

Dual frontwomen Etta Friedman and Allegra Weingarten's catchy guitar angularity and soothing vocal smoothness have made them rising indie stars, and they'll hitch their wagon to two alt-supernovae this year, joining Wet Leg on the west coast leg of their American tour next month and Snail Mail on the east coast and midwest over the summer, with a few solo shows and a gig with Illuminati Hotties in England in between.

Today, they've shared "Rockstar," their second release since the release of their sophomore album, Two of Me, in June 2020. (Their other recent single, "Medicine," made The FADER's "20 best rock songs right now" list in December.) "Rockstar" is significantly louder and more bombastic than their usual fare, propelled in part by well-placed, expertly executed drum flurries from Zach Capitti Fenton.

It comes with visuals directed by L.A. duo Batshit! (Ben Joyner & Henry Drayton) that finds Momma performing at a School of Rock-style battle of the bands, blowing their audience away as their competitors look on in envy.
