The government has announced that millions of extra people are now eligible for coronavirus testing in the UK. With an ambitious target of 100,000 tests a day by the end of the month in sight, the government has dramatically expanded the list of people who are eligible for coronavirus tests in England.
Health secretary Matt Hancock previously announced on April 23 that around 10 million key workers and their households were now eligible for testing, if they started showing symptoms of coronavirus.
That included NHS and social care staff, police officers, teachers, social workers, undertakers, journalists and those who work in supermarkets, food production, essential utilities and childcare.
