Boy, 14, tragically dies of rare Kawasaki-like disease linked to coronavirus

A teenager with no underlying health conditions has tragically died from a rare disease linked to coronavirus. The 14-year-old boy was part of a cluster of eight cases being treated at the Evelina London Children's Hospital over a 10-day period in April.

The young teen developed a condition similar to Kawasaki disease. The hospital has seen more than 20 children with the illness.

The details were revealed in a report from the Evelina medical team published in The Lancet medical journal.Experts are now investigating the new syndrome in children “with great urgency” according to Health Secretary Matt Hancock – however, he has stressed that the condition is rare.
