Metrolink bosses say they offered drivers 5 per cent pay rise before they forged ahead with plans to strike

Unite members announced on Monday their intention to walk out on Sunday, the day of the Manchester Marathon, in a dispute they claimed in their last statement was over a one per cent pay offer from KeolisAmey (KAM), which runs the trams on behalf of Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM).

They have earmarked additional walk-outs on Friday, October 15, Monday, October 18 and Sunday, October 24 - when Manchester United are due to play Liverpool. READ MORE: Why Greater Manchester WILL
