Bury got its answer to Chanel after a Radclifffe man found himself in crisis when his own African grey flew away on Sunday. Freddie the parrot was lost for 24 hours after 'unlocking his own cage' and 'smacking his owner in the face' before flapping through an open door and taking to the skies. The worried 25-year-old owner spent '13 hours straight' looking for Freddie, until he found the bird just 'three streets away' from his home in Scarr Avenue today (Monday, July 13).

The Radcliffe man has owned Freddie for two years after his father died, but the beloved pet has been cared for by the family for nine in total.
