The status would have allowed them legal representation to obtain disclosure of evidence in advance, challenge evidence and participate in lines of inquiry.Core participants may make statements at certain hearings or apply through their legal representatives to ask questions of certain witnesses.An application from survivors for the chairman's ruling to be challenged at a judicial review was argued over two days last week.
Senior judges however ruled against the survivors, saying the claim the chairman's decision was unlawful was 'not arguable'.
