He remains in custody for questioning until Wednesday afternoon after the Magistrates Court granted an extension. The 20-year-old was first arrested by police on Sunday on suspicion of rape and assault.
He was detained in custody on Sunday, January 30, after police became aware of online social media images and videos posted by a woman reporting incidents of physical violence.
Following enquiries so far, GMP has confirmed he has since been further arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill.
