On Tuesday, (August 31), police were called around 2.30pm to a reports a gunman had approached a cash-in-transit driver on Old Church Street.

The offender ran away from the scene empty-handed after establishing that the victim wasn't carrying cash. No arrests have been made, a police spokesman said.

In a statement, GMP said: “Officers attended and enquiries established a man, believed to have been carrying a firearm, had approached a cash-in-transit driver on the street. “It was established that the victim had not been carrying cash at the time of the incident and the offender subsequently
