Man dies weeks after suffering life-threatening injuries in serious assault

Breightmet, at around 10.20pm on Monday, July 13. Witnesses described seeing up to 10 police vehicles at the scene following the incident.On arrival, officers discovered a 46-year-old man with life-threatening injuries.

He was taken to hospital but has now sadly died. Witnesses said police stayed in the area ‘all night’ after the assault. A cordon remained in place the next day.

A resident, who did not wish to be named, described seeing a man lying on the ground following the incident. He said: “There were about 10 police cars and vans there last night and two ambulances. “Police have been there all night at the crime scene.” Greater Manchester Police confirmed a person had been charged in connection with the incident.
