Louisiana City Apologizes for Using 'Purge' Siren to Signal Quarantine

A city in Louisiana is issuing an apology after using the siren from the movie The Purge to signal the start of a 9pm curfew of the city’s mandatory quarantine.

Crowley, Louisiana police used the siren without apparently knowing that it was the same sound used to signal the start of the purge in the hit films, where crimes became legal for one night. “Last night a ‘Purge Siren’ was utilized by the Crowley Police Department as part of their starting curfew.

We have received numerous complaints with the belief that our agency was involved in this process. We were not involved in the use of the ‘Purge Siren’ and will not utilize any type of siren for this purpose,” Acadia Parish sheriff K.P.
