Bòrd na Gàidhlig recognises early learning, childcare settings and schools which have developed a positive culture of Gaelic education. Both Gaelic Medium Education (GME) and Gaelic Learner Education (GLE) are growing sectors across Scotland and offer pupils a lot more than the opportunity to learn a language.

While there are cognitive and linguistic advantages to bilingualism, learning to speak Gaelic also gives pupils access to Scotland's rich cultural heritage, providing a diverse and creative learning environment.

Numerous professional Gaelic organisations work in partnership with schools to deliver creative and cultural opportunities through the language, including Fèisean nan Gàidheal which offers Gaelic language and culture sessions for GME and GLE settings delivered primarily through expressive arts.Recognising the many benefits of Gaelic education, Bòrd na Gàidhlig will continue to promote Gaelic development at this year's Scottish Education Awards.

Other creative partnerships include FilmG the Gaelic short film competition and Tobar an Dualchais which has created Gaelic resources to promote cultural education in schools.
