Kristen Stewart is set to play Diana, Princess of Wales in a new film, according to reports. US outlet Deadline has said that the Twilight star, 30, will take up the role in a drama titled Spencer.

The film will reportedly show Diana spending a weekend in Sandringham during which she realises her marriage to Charles is not working.

The film will be directed by Pablo Larrain and the script has been written by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, according to Deadline.

In an interview with the outlet, Larrain said: “We all grew up, at least I did in my generation, reading and understanding what a fairy tale is. “Usually, the prince comes and finds the princess, invites her to become his wife and eventually she becomes queen.
