Joaquin Phoenix Gets Into Character as French Emperor Napoleon to Film New Movie 'Kitbag'

Joaquin Phoenix is hard at work on his upcoming movie! The 47-year-old Oscar winner was seen getting into costume as French emperor Napoleon Bonaparte as he prepared to film scenes for his movie Kitbag on Thursday (March 10) at the Old Royal Naval College in London, England. Click inside to find out more about the movie… The film, directed by Ridley Scott, will center on the infamous General’s origins and his volatile relationship with his wife Josephine, who is being played by this Oscar-nominated actress.

Napoleon was a big leader in the French Revolutionary Wars and was France’s emperor from 1804 until 1814, leading the country in a series of battles before he was defeated at Waterloo.

He was exiled to the island of Elba and then to Saint Helena, where he died in 1821 at the age of 51. Kitbag comes from the saying “There is a general’s staff hidden in every soldier’s kitbag.” If you missed it, Joaquin will soon be teaming up with fiancee Rooney Mara for a new movie!
