Jim Goodwin, who believes the Buddies are highly unlikely to be invited to the proposed breakaway competition that’s set to feature some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

News of the Super League’s formation has rocked the football fraternity, with UEFA and FIFA strongly against the idea, with both threatening to stop players involved featuring in international matches - among numerous other sanctions.

Reacting to the news, St Mirren manager Goodwin said: “It doesn’t sit well with me, being honest. “I’m a Liverpool fan, that’s who I grew up supporting and I’m gutted to think they might not be involved in the Premier League in years to come.“I don’t know the ins and outs.
