International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees International President Matthew Loeb announced Wednesday that unless an agreement is reached, 60,000 union members will begin a nationwide strike against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) on Monday, October 18 at 12:01 a.m.
Industry sources say that kind of work stoppage would be catastrophic, jeopardizing productions around North America. But union members counter that they are being asked to work too many hours for too little compensation, a situation they claim has become dangerous..
