It has been a legendary week for 16-year-old Luke Littler. The teenager became the youngest ever player to reach the final of the World Darts Championship, and became a national star along the way.
Littler, from Warrington, narrowly missed out on the title to world number one Luke Humphries, but still collected a sizeable prize sum of £200,000.
However, shortly after his win, HMRC tweeted to remind the youngster he would be taxed on his earnings. It came after investment platform Saxo estimated Littler will have to pay £76,203 in tax, as well as £7,330 in National Insurance, which means his winnings will be cut by almost half, reports the Liverpool Echo.
