HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) to help cover additional energy costs. And now, HMRC has confirmed that anyone who is required by their employer to work from home for even just a single day after the new financial year started on April 6, 2021, can make a claim again for the whole 2021/22 tax year.
This means that if you are currently working from home you could be eligible for another tax break of between £62 and £125 and if you haven’t yet claimed for the 2020/21 tax year, you can still do that through HMRC’s dedicated microsite service.
If your energy bills have gone up as a direct result of working from home you are entitled to £6 a week tax relief - that means £6 of your salary won't be taxed, so if you're a basic rate, 20% taxpayer, you.
