Groups welcome pedestrian and cyclist safety measures

Perth and Kinross Council is set to push ahead with plans to increase pedestrian and cyclist safety across the region.A range of measures are being proposed after the local authority’s bid for £1.1million from the Scottish Government’s Spaces for People Fund was approved.Administered by Sustrans, the grant will enable 34 proposals to move forward in Perth and 12 other communities around the region.It is hoped the measures will help people maintain social distancing as lockdown is further eased.Covered within the bid are additional signage and road markings, removal and/or relocation of unnecessary street furniture and the introduction of reduced speed limits.Also included are the provision of temporary cycle lanes and cycle segregation,
