Gary Cahill admits his time at Bolton Wanderers was 'fantastic' and played one last time for the club even though he had sealed a transfer to Chelsea as he wanted to repay the faith the Whites had shown in him.
Central defender Cahill turned out nearly 150 times for Wanderers between 2008 and 2012, scoring 15 goals in the process. During his time at Wanderers after moving from Aston Villa, Cahill was also handed his first England cap, with the defender going on to score five goals in 61 appearances for the Three Lions. READ MORE: Bolton Wanderers star ranked above Wigan Athletic duo & Sheffield Wednesday maestro in Top 50 list Cahill moved to Chelsea in January 2012 from Wanderers as he went on to win the Champions League, two Premier League titles, two Europa League crowns, a pair of FA Cups and the League Cup over the next seven years.
Cahill's final game for Bolton came against Everton at Goodison Park in early January as he scored what proved to be the winning goal against the Toffees.
The defender did that despite his move to Chelsea being essentially done and dusted, but Cahill opted to play one more time for Wanderers under Owen Coyle to repay the faith the Whites had shown in him.
