Firm run by Andy Burnham’s adviser set to receive £250k loan from combined authority

A business headed up by one of Andy Burnham’s key advisers has had a £250,000 loan approved in principle by the combined authority he chairs.

The loan to SharpFutures, whose chief executive officer Rose Marley is both advising the mayor’s re-election campaign and has been a consultant on one of his flagship policies for the past year, was signed off conditionally by the combined authority at its latest meeting.

Mr Burnham vacated the chair and declared an interest before the region’s ten council leaders took the decision.
