Families struggling during the coronavirus lockdown are getting vital help and support through a new initiative. A number of organisations across Greater Manchester have come together to provide support and friendship for families through an army of volunteers.

Homestart, commissioned in Trafford by the council with funding from the NHS Clinical Commissioning Group and Trafford Housing Trust and also working in Salford and Wigan, is all about parents supporting parents.

The initiative’s volunteers and staff are busier than ever during lockdown. The coronavirus outbreak has left many people across Greater Manchester struggling for access to food, basics and other support.
