Crime in Manchester city centre has plummeted during the coronavirus pandemic. Anecdotally police say they are dealing with about a sixth of the number of incidents they normally would be.
The number of open investigations has halved, while violent crime is down somewhere between 80 and 90 per cent - mainly due to the pubs being shut.
But the lockdown has also brought a new set of challenges. Police are now focusing on breaking up gatherings all while coping with the perils of a job that can't always be done with social distancing.
