Emergency services rush to gym after man 'falls ill' in swimming pool

A man has been rushed to hospital after he 'fell ill' in a south Manchester gym swimming pool. The incident, which happened at Total Fitness Altrincham, at around 1pm this afternoon, involved a male understood to be in his 50's.

The lifeguard on duty performed CPR on the man before he was taken to hospital by first responders. The man was treated at the scene by crews and remains in hospital undergoing treatment. GMP confirmed the medical episode involved a man in his 50s.
