An elderly locksmith had £50,000 worth of equipment stolen in a “horrific” and “violent” robbery in Clifton. The incident happened in Kestrel Avenue shortly after midnight on Friday, May 15 while the victim was still out working.

The man, believed to be in his 70s, was sat in his black Ford Transit van programming a key for a client when he was approached by two men.

The first man reached through the open window of the van’s door and took the keys out of the ignition while the second man attacked the victim by punching him and pulling him out of the vehicle.

The offenders then fled from the scene in the van, along with the locksmith’s work equipment – believed to be worth around £50,000.
