Earthquake with 6.3 magnitude strikes Greek island of Crete

Crete has experienced a strong earthquake today, just three weeks after a man was killed by another quake which damaged hundreds of buildings.

The Greek island was jolted by the earthquake on Tuesday at 12.24pm local time, undersea off the eastern coast, which had a preliminary magnitude of 6.3 according to the Geodynamic Institute in Athens.

Two quakes with a magnitude of 4.1 and 4.6 followed minutes later, believed to be aftershocks, the institute reports. There were no immediate reports of serious damage or injury.
